Sandeep “Sunny” Kishore designs new strategies to address old and large social problems. As a physician-scientist he has worked to change how doctors, researchers, and policymakers approach health challenges and battle the chronic diseases sweeping our world. He encourages them to think more about the “causes of the causes” of maladies like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes—the social determinants that influence the behaviors that affect our health.
Sunny led policy engineering and design to modernize the World Health Organization Essential Medicines List, a listing of the 400-plus most important medicines globally.
Sunny has worked with the steering committee of the National Academy of Medicine Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being & Resilience to pioneer new models, approaches, perspectives, and collective action with health leadership.
Sunny, along with CEOs, deans, and the nation’s first chief wellness officers, makes the case for well-being as a top-level priority.
In this webinar, Sunny outlines the rationale for adding fixed-dose combinations for hypertension to the World Health Organization Essential Medicines List.
The inaugural Vital Talks event featuring Dr. Tom Frieden, President and CEO of Resolve to Save Lives at Vital Strategies, moderated by Sunny.
Sunny has led programs, action centers and global networks focused on social innovation and knowledge creation that have reached over 150 countries. He has worked both internationally, nationally and in California on scalable treatment algorithms for cardiometabolic conditions.
